About spice box

The seed of this spice box was planted by Lawrence Afere (kanthari graduate of 2012) from Nigeria, who had his organisation Springboard up and running after only four months.
Lawrence often thought back on the tools and methods we provided during the kanthari course and suggested adding it all to a manual for kantharis who need reminders on certain tools in one or another area of running an organization. Finally, during this tumultuous year 2020, we were able to act on it. It took an entire team of motivated people who worked long and hard to make it a reality.

Since 2009, the content of the kanthari course has evolved through further hands on experiences and through feedback from kantharis who had started their organizations. Unlike most, this encyclopedia is not based on theories or university studies. It is mainly nurtured by practical examples of failures and achievements.

Considering the vast number of kanthari tools, the unconventional approach, the amount of practical examples, the many aspects and angles, the unusual perspectives, and the fact that it is developed based on first hand experiences of active social change makers who themselves have overcome adversity, we can confidently say, that this encyclopedia is rather unique and opens doors and windows to a world of social change.
